Justifiably Justified.(Television)

With the inevitable end of 2 of the greatest shows in television history (Lost, 24), comes a scary void. Fear not, though, fellow television addicts, for there are at least 2 higher quality shows to look out for. Justified and Treme. And although I can’t speak for Treme as I haven’t yet had a chance to see it, I can tell you that it’s a critically acclaimed series about people dealing with the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans.

Justified, on the other hand is a great new series about an old school US Marshal that kicks ass and takes names in Kentucky. Now let me just preface this by saying; I’ve never really been a huge fan of the western genre normally, but this show is based on an Elmore Leonard character, and thankfully he`is Executive Producing the series, and it seems he`s leaving his fingerprints all over it.

If you don’t know who Elmore Leonard is, he’s a writer that specializes in crime usually in his home town of Detroit. And if you haven’t read any of his books, you almost certainly have seen one of the many Hollywood movies adapted from his books, including, Get Shorty, Be Cool, Out of Sight or Rum Punch (the very underrated but very good Jackie Brown).

Here’s another great scene from Jackie Brown with stoner ex-convict Robert DeNiro and gun runner Samuel Jackson showcasing his new product line with the help of models in skimpy swimwear. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Great scene.

Each episode of Justified is like a delicious Elmore Leonard short story, filled with small town hoods with big dreams waiting for that perfect score that almost always goes horribly wrong in a cloud of gunsmoke. So strap on your Stetson, grab a shot of Jim Beam and check it out today.
