Today is Rza’s Birthday: DG Salutes a Hip Hop Legend. (Music)

rza1

Whatever name you might know him by – and he has a longer list of aliases than the protagonist in Catch Me If You Can (The Scientist, RZArector, The Abbot, Bobby Digital and Prince Rakeem to name a few), RZA is not only the defacto leader of the Wu-Tang Clang, one of the most influential groups in Hip Hop culture, he is also a multi-talented artist with lots to say. Born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, RZA then floated around from Ohio to Pennsylvania, and along the way got caught up in drug dealing and petty crime. After escaping an attempted murder charge which he credits as being given a second chance, he went on to focus on music. Lucky for him, and lucky for us. (Above Photo, RZA pictured middle between O.D.B (left) and Bill Murray (right) on the set of Coffee & Cigarettes.)
Here is a recent interview he gave to Montreality.

Have a listen to his last album as Bobby Digital from last year in it’s entirety.
