Black Swan is like a live electrical current – it keeps you on your toes; much like the ballerinas you’re watching. Every now and then though, you get zapped with high voltage that makes you cringe and slightly nauseated, but it’s worth it. The movie seems to touch on the fragility of the creative mind, and how easy it is to go over the edge in the quest for perfection. Executed with elegance from Nathalie Portman, and directed flawlessly by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pie, The Wrestler.)
