Kony 2012: Documentary Uncovers Uganda’s Dark Secrets. (Documentary)

*UPDATE*
Alot of controversy has exploded all over the internet since this video came out. Many people have pointed out that the Free the Children organization is a for profit company and that Joseph Kony is no longer in Uganda. Naturally, sharing and liking something on facebook doesn’t change the world. But sharing ideas and starting a conversation is the first stepping stone in change. I still believe that anything that ignites a discussion on African issues is a positive step. For more on this topic, go here.

Two days ago, a documentary called Kony 2012 was uploaded to youtube, and has in that short time already garnered a staggering 9.5 million views. Directed by Jason Russell for an organization called Free The Children, it’s really an expose on Joseph Kony. Kony is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader and head of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). It’s a group known for some pretty awful tactics including kidnapping children after murdering their families and enlisting them as child soldiers. The ultimate aim of the film is to make Kony famous enough to get captured.
