The new documentary Filthy Gorgeous: The Bob Guccione Story just had it’s debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. The film takes a look at Penthouse founder Bob Guccione. It’s easy for some to write someone off like Guccione as a simple sleaze peddler. However; according to recent reviews, the doc takes a kinder view, and reminds us he was also a pretty talented painter, and brought us other things including the wildly successful sci-fi magazine OMNI. Vice devoted their September issue to the polarizing figure; see it here. You can check out more of an extensive, private archival photo collection here; obviously the link is nsfw. Unfortunately there isn’t a trailer out for the doc yet, but I dug up a great interview he did with Nightwatch in 1979 (the same year he released the critical disaster Caligula) all blinged out in glorious gold chains. Check it out below.
