The Covid Diaries. (Poetry)

cocooned

wrapped in single use plastic

and

netflix shows

paint by numbers

colour in

between the lines

red white & blue

markers

all

out of ink

————————————————————————————————

Doom scrolling

all the way

till the end

game over

player one

i’m all

out of quarters

———————————————————————————————–

Rockets to Mars

No more guitars

———————————————————————————————–

i can’t breathe

he said

to

the man in blue

knees to the neck

boots on the ground

light the fuse

crack a window

bible photo op

professional lighting

by tiki torches

one dead cop

a hundred thousand martyrs

memorial dead flowers drift

turn old monuments to dust

the long night continues

————————————————————————————————

fake news

fake investigations

fake politicians

100%

artificial intelligence

———————————————————————————————–

I was bored

So I made a fort

out of

cereal boxes, maple syrup and instant rice

but i started missing everyone

almost

right away

————————————————————————————————

toilet paper fantasies

machine gun nightmares

hydroxychloriquine dreams

jonesing

for a bucket

of

hand sanitizer

nasdaq noose

billionaires get richer

even in a pandemic

we’re all in this together

until

you’re on a ventilator

I looked up a picture

on the internet

for the subject

“community”

but

all it showed

was

pictures

of people

on

their

phones

————————————————————————————————

Masks

are

the

new

black

————————————————————————————————

Why can’t i filter out

how your eyes

take me in

we were all

self-isolating

before

this
