Ellen von Unwerth was born in Frankfurt, Germany and kicked off her photographic career in the 80s with a bang. Remember those iconic black & white Guess ads featuring Claudia Schiffer that captivated the planet? That was pure Ellen. She went on to become one of the most influential female photographers of her generation, working for magazines like I-D, Harper’s Bazaar and Interview. She also directed a few music videos for folks like Duran Duran and Salt N Pepa. Her signature look seems to capture daring feminine sensuality that manages to be both raw and at times playful.
