Here’s a series you’ve probably never heard of. Svetlana is an improv style comedy shot in Los Angeles about a Russian Madam, her 4 working girls and loving husband. They all work for Svetlana’s “St. Petersberg House of Discreet Pleasure” (There’s a huge sign on the door, according to Sveltana in Ep.1 Sea.1; you can’t miss it). The show pushes boundaries and manages to be subversive, smart and hilarious at once – think Curb Your Enthusiasm with a healthy shot of Russian vodka and American viagra on the side. The series owes most of it’s raw talent to it’s creator, main writer, and star Iris Bahr; a seasoned comedic performer, but look out for lots of recognizable guest stars along the crazy ride. Check out the sizzle reel below but be warned; it’s slightly on the cheese tip, I recommend scrolling below for the entire pilot episode.
