Made In Birmingham: Music Documentary Uncovers Underground Music Roots. (Documentary)

I came across this film in this year’s NXNE festival quite serendipitously. My film Matatu Express opened for it, and boy am I glad I had a chance to see it. Made In Birmingham is a fascinating look at the musical archive of a city that has produced an amazing array of rich cultural content, particularily Reggae, Punk and Bhangra. There’s a host of really cool interviews and fascinating archival footage that illustrate a previously largely unrecognized and undocumented time period. Interviews include UB40, Steel Pulse, The Killjoys, Dexys Midnight Runners and many others. Directed By Deborah Aston, and produced by Roger Shannon & Jez Collins.
