GQ‘s Matthew Power tracked down Airman First Class Brian Bryant; one of the first recruits to operate unmanned aerial vehicles in two man teams. These are the guys (and women) that sit in dark, smokey rooms surrounded by multiple screens operating joysticks. They watch, they wait, and sometimes they kill. If you think it sounds like a video game, you’d be right; only the consequences are very real. Not just for the targeted victim, but for the operators as well. It’s a shame that we rarely see the real life consequences of war; I have a feeling the upcoming release of Ender’s Game will likely fail to include any talk of PDST. Read the whole story here.
